  • Elementary Library Routines - This is a place for elementary librarians to share ideas for curriculum and library management.
  • Scholastic's Lesson Plans & Reproducibles - Lesson plans for grades K - 12. Many of these are internet based. Check out the language arts section for research skills lessons.
  • Information Problem Solving Models - Research units for grades 1 - 12 from the Baltimore County Public Schools. These are related to many areas of the curriculum. Also note the useful Research and Investigation Guide. The lesson plans and guides are found through using the menu at the top or on the left side of the page.
  • Lessons from the Library - Five K - 8 library lesson plans for teachers from Education World plus links to other lesson sites. The lesson called Save the Library has students defend the library from budget cuts or closure.
  • Read Write Think - Lesson plans for all grade levels. These lessons are designed to promote reading and literacy, and are appropriate for information skills, reading, and technology lessons.
  • The Alabama Learning Exchange (ALEX) - Information Literacy lesson plans linked to learning objectives.
  • The Ohio iMatrix - Inquiry based instruction. You might benefit from reading INFOhio IMatrix: A Tool to Enhance Deep, Rigorous Learning! which is an article explaining the iMatrix in Teacher Librarian.
  • The National Education Association - has lesson plans for topics which require library research. You will need to use the search box in order to find them.
  • Online Lessons and Activities - A large variety of lessons on a number of topics. This site by Joyce Valenza of Springfield Township High School, PA.
  • Lesson Plan Book - Lesson Plans to complement the Hanover County Library Media Curriculum. Plans for grades K - 8 in both Word and pdf formats.
  • K - 6 Library Media Lessons - This site has objectives to be achieved during each school year and also sone lesson plans. It will be very useful if you need to plan an elementary library program. This is by the Modesto, CA School District.
  • Elementary Lesson Program - For grade K - 6 from the Jordan School District, Utah.
  • Elementary Librarian - This site has a schedule for a year of K - 5 lessons, and lists some helpful printed resources. The site is prepared by an elementary school librarian in Kentucky.

  • Read Write Think Student Materials - Many online tools which will assist students with book reports, report writing, poetry composition, and more. There are also lots of lesson plans. This site is well worth a visit.

  • Canada Worksheets - Some of these may be used for library research lessons
  • ABC Teach - This is not really a lesson plan site, but it does have over 5000 free printable forms such as worksheets, signs, and genre labels.
